Our client is a leading packaging manufacturer. The group supplies products to multinational corporations and local market leaders in FMCG industries. In recent years the group has developed from a supplier with a strong European regional focus into a group which is active on a global basis in the world's most attractive and fastest-growing markets for packaging.

The company are recruiting in the UK for a HR and H&S Manager to manage 4 satellite sites in the UK and Europe, supporting all HR and H&S processes, tasks and projects, he/she ultimately drives added value to all internal and external customers of the organisation.

Primary focus of the HR and H&S Manager is on supporting the 4 Satellite Plants granting, with regular presence on site, a strong partnership with all Satellite Employees and Plant Managers (190 staff in total).

The desired future of the activity developed by the incumbent in 3 years is to have a modern and agile Satellite organisation, with all HR and H&S processes in place, respecting local laws as well as group guidelines, working in team with the whole organisation, having a proactive mindset for finding countermeasures for existing deviations and to develop HR & H&S processes to anticipate future business needs.

HR Responsibilities:
  • Drive, align and improve HR processes and practices in the satellites organisation, employee relations
  • Inform and advise satellites management on all HR procedures and legislative matters
  • Ensure an annual performance management cycle, coach employees and managers on appropriate follow-up action planning, implement the right measures to address performance issues and development needs
  • Coordinate, facilitate and contribute to company-wide initiatives such as leadership development program, succession management, salary & bonus review, etc.
  • Build up a relationship with employees as a trusted partner
  • Deliver efficient and successful recruitment and selection of employees
  • Execute individual and team training programs
  • Initiate and facilitate various processes and projects to enhance the company's ability to attract, motivate, and retain employees
  • Support change processes within a growing organisation
  • Integrate corporate and divisional HR initiatives at satellites site level
  • Implement HR reporting

H&S Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the necessary health and safety systems to ensure legal compliance and support the health and safety plan in the satellites organisation
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures
  • Incorporate "best practice" into health and safety planning and practice
  • Promote, champion and drive continual improvement in health and safety in order to create a health and safety culture
  • Ensure that obligations and responsibilities under the relevant health and safety legislation are met
  • Implement and manage identification of risk management and hazard identification
  • Implement incident/injury reporting, recording and investigation processes and information
  • Ensure employee participation in health and safety
  • Ensure monitoring systems are implemented and maintained
  • Implement health and safety behavioural observations process and regularly review health and safety systems in operation
  • Implement, lead and maintain regular audits and reviews of health and safety practices and procedures
  • Ensure that hazard identification/site safety compliance is maintained and recorded
  • Encourage reporting of accidents and incidents and ensure they are recorded and reported
  • Be accountable for executing health and safety systems, reporting and advice in order to ensure legal compliance
  • Provide leadership and support in health and safety across the organisation

  • HR professional with 5 - 7 years' experience as HR generalist / business partner experience and a strong focus on H&S within a manufacturing environment
  • The ability to use your own initiative, be challenging in your dealings with all employees, and third parties
  • To not only find issues with H&S but to assist in the resolution
