Strategic Buyer, POS/POP – East Midlands & London

High profile specialist manufacturer of permanent and semi-perm POS and POP, supplying a diverse range of FMCG and Brand clients seeks to appoint two truly outstanding professional Buyers / Purchasing Managers as they seek to establish a ‘Centre of Procurement excellence’ for this impressive Business.

Part of a major European Group, they provide a full end-to-end service in the design, manufacture and installation of eye-catching, high-quality and innovative POS and POP solutions, including vacuum-formed plastics, wood and metalwork  fabrication.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing global external supplier and commodity strategies that will drive long-term improvements in quality, cost and delivery. You will engage and foster support of key stakeholders so as to enhance the competitive and commercial performance of this Business, its customers and suppliers.

You will form part of a Central Procurement / Purchasing team across the full project/product life cycle, ensuring supplier commercial issues are resolved effectively and efficiently, managing work queuing, including the sourcing of parts/services both Project specific as well as tactical.

Ideally with MCIPS (or prepared to study for qualification), you will draw upon your experience within POS/POP & have the experience/ability to read and understand technical drawings to a basic level. You will be an effective commercial negotiator with a results based track record, have the ability to operate in a strategic sourcing and commodity/category management role, which will be combined with high levels of drive and enthusiasm, and the ability to work to tight deadlines and timescales.

You must have the instant gravitas and intellect to develop relationships at the highest level and the ability to demonstrate a  clear understanding between the difference of tactical and strategic purchasing.

You will have excellent planning, organisational, interpersonal and management skills, along with enhanced negotiation & procurement acumen, attention to detail, commercial awareness (eye on the bottom line) coupled with the ability to take a strategic view as to the performance of the function and strategic projects within the overall company strategy.

The role will be based initially in the East Midlands, but it is very likely that the role will relocate to London in due course, so you will either live between these two locations & have the ability/preparedness to travel to both, or be prepared to re-locate to London over the next circa 12 months.

You will work directly with the Financial & Operational Directors in the various Business units and have the ability & tenacity to deliver significant influence & effectiveness within the Business & Group, in this fabulous opportunity to enhance your career potential.
