New Product Development Manager

The Company:

Printing company specialising in a variety of print products and packaging

The Role:

  • To support the sales teams by co-ordinating the design & manufacturing planning process, from initial concept generation, through protyping, material sourcing, ensuring practical from a manufacturing and commercial perspective.
  • Take briefs from sales, customers, and other internal departments, ensure all aspects understood, and expectations (time / price) are included in brief
  • Liaise with technical functions to ensure designs are practical
  • Liaise with commercial functions and review costings to ensure designs are commercially viable
  • Ensure preparation of drawings, 3D designs, mock ups
  • Source suitable materials, considering commercial implications
  • Support purchasing function in sourcing of non-standard materials
  • Support commercial function with technical input on non standard products
  • Maintain & update database of projects and ensure deadlines understood and time allocated accordingly
  • Prepare critical paths where necessary
  • Attend relevant meetings on site and at customer/supplier premises
  • Monitor latest trends in relevant markets
  • Maintain contact with appropriate suppliers, and develop relationship to ensure supply chain supports design and innovation function
  • Attend exhibitions / seminars, review relevant magazines / publications etc
  • Support marketing of new products, and innovations


  • Constructional CAD designer, looking to widen job role's & responsibilities
  • Business / Account Manager with a strong creative or technical input
  • Experienced manager with direct experience of Product Development
  • Strong IT skills, minimum Intermediate level with Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills; able to communicate with customers, suppliers and production teams
  • Print background; Packaging, POS and DM all beneficial
  • CAD
  • Tharsten or similar MIS
