Direct Marketing Account Manager




£30k-£37k dep on exp + bonus

The Role:

  • To manage positive relationships with their client  typically at Campaign Manager level - throughout the efficient management of work streams with a particular focus on:
  • On time delivery
  • Proactive Communication
  • Risk Management
  • Reduction in ‘concept to delivery’ timelines
  • Return on Client Investment
  • Cost down – value up
  • Workflow efficiency
  • Interface with preferred suppliers, internal/external
  • Project manage jobs from concept to delivery.
  • Manage the various process requirements such as attend concept meetings/ take briefs / quote process / price negotiation / purchase order creation / proof exchange / quality checks / pack testing (where applicable)/ VAT assessment / data checks / compile schedules / supplier delivery date follow up/ Invoice checks.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction / resolve queries / provide ongoing status
  • Project management to ensure delivery dates are met
  • Maintain detailed electronic / job bag procedures as they develop
  • Managing stock and budget levels
  • Review existing processes and stock to drive cost down and value up
  • Review existing processes to reduce lead times
  • Maximise VAT efficiencies




  • Substantial sector experience in a direct mail production environment, direct mail account management role
  • Broad experience in commercial / digital print / Direct Mail activities
  • Experience in a fast paced environment where rapid, customer focussed change management is a norm
  • Capable of working autonomously or as part of a team
  • Project / Account Management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in fast paced environment to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and rapport with customers
  • Must be able to function at all levels of the business, and not be afraid to role sleeves up when necessary
  • Good problems solving/analytical skills and able to work under pressure
  • Purchasing and strong negotiation skills and the ability to identify opportunities
  • Computer Literate
  • Detailed understanding of print production methods/processes/project management
  • Detailed understanding of direct mail and its production methods/processes
  • Experience of working in a client account management role, developing and building a relationship, resolving issues, working strategically to meet business goals
  • Print buying experience desirable
