As plant electrician at our Gloucester Plant you will be responsible for the electrical/electronic maintenance of plant and equipment, ensuring that all plant, equipment and site services are in good working order to support the requirements of a busy 24 hour manufacturing site.


You will have the ability to work under your own initiative and under pressure to maintain and repair a variety of production equipment, plant, and to carry out both installations and relocations. Fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs will also form part of the responsibilities of this role. Flexibility with regard to working hours is required in line with business requirements. You will have control of and need to effectively interact with contractors.

Another major responsibility is in assisting the plant management team in complying with all H&S responsibilities, legal compliance and maintenance management in respect of production lines, services, buildings and all other ancillary equipment.


•Electrical fault finding and maintenance. Troubleshooting
•Preventative maintenance
•Regular testing of equipment and machinery
•Maintaining and repairing a wide variety of machinery
•Support other Engineering staff
•Machine Setting
•Maintenance of production lines
•Site Electrical installations and upgrade work around plants
•Electrical maintenance of Plant including [ppm] system
•Attending and rectifying electrical breakdowns
•Maintenance of lighting systems including emergency lighting
•Electrical Maintenance of offices
•Working under Health & Safety guidelines

Experience/ Skills:

•Candidates need to come from an Industrial/manufacturing/plant background
•Electrical maintenance experience
•You must have knowledge of Heavy Industry electrics
•Extensive electrical knowledge / training
•Experience of handling electrical maintenance and breakdowns
•Be able to troubleshoot and solve process problems
•Experience of plant operations
•Basic mechanical skills
•Experience of mechanical/hydraulic drive systems would be advantageous

Requirements for the role include:

•Time served apprenticeship with a minimum of 5 years in manufacturing/plant environment
•ONC/HNC or additional relevant qualification
•Proven delivery on design and project work desirable
•P.P.M.diagnostics and fault finding
•relevant industry experience

DAYS WORKED: Monday to Friday and some Weekends

HOURS OF WORK: Supporting production the successful candidate will work a defined 2 shift pattern Monday - Friday 06:00 to 14:00 & 14:00 to 22:00

Call out system and charge in place for night and weekend cover

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000, plus 13% shift allowance, on call pay and call out charge per call out, OT hourly rate when onsite (time and a half for mid-week and Saturday double time Sunday)
