Business Development Director

£60k - £90k + car and commission

Our client is a leading name in transactional mail, document management and e-billing. Due to ambitious growth plans they are looking for an experienced business development director to sell end to end communication solutions (both inbound & outbound) to the finance, telco, debt and insurance sectors. Contractual values of £2m - £5m are the businesses forte and they have the capability to deliver on both the print and technology side.

Skills and experience:

  • Proven track record of opening doors into new business accounts (rather than following up on leads provided). This includes getting on the phone to find out who to speak to and persuading them to have an initial meeting.
  • Proven ability to work around an organisation to discover the real decision making process and the key players. Includes establishing appropriate contact and getting meetings with relevant senior managers and more junior key influencers. This means our salespeople need the ability to relate to a wide range of people within prospective customers.
  • Demonstrate track record of working within their own organisations to develop solutions that meets the key needs of the customer and which the organisation can deliver profitably. Successful candidates should be able to show that they have done this as part of developing their sales pitch to the customer to a reasonable degree as the fine detail of the requirements will usually become apparent only after a verbal order is secured.
  • Evidence of having developed compelling proposal documents. Depending on the companies they have worked for this with either be largely on their own or with the help of an in-house bid team.
  • Most critical is a proven track record of closing business.
  • Ideally the successful candidate will be able to show that they have handled the detail of contract negotiation to signature. This is less critical that previous elements as specialist support will be provided.
  • Candidates with experience in data driven solutions are likely to be as suitable as those with direct transactional experience. Experience in selling e-channels and e-archive an advantage.
