We have a truly great opportunity to work for a well-established and highly respected print organisation in the capacity of Production Manager. 

My client specialises in litho printing on a large scale and require the successful candidate to have experience across a variety of production based disciplines and is broken down as below:

Production Performance

  • Analyse crew and machine performance
  • Continual improvement
  • Publish weekly performance figures
  • Chair weekly production meeting
  • Address performance issues with crew members
  • Annual appraisals

Supervision

  • Supervision of 8 managers
  • Overall responsibility for over 80 staff including casuals

Maintenance

  • Analyse machine performance
  • Prioritise machine maintenance based on analytical data
  • Supervise internal engineering staff
  • Negotiate with external suppliers for best possible maintenance rates

Quality

  • Produce weekly non-conformance reports
  • Chair weekly quality meeting, reviewing all non-conformances
  • Instigate corrective actions based on the study of non-conformances
  • Rewrite ISO 9001 procedures to reflect corrective actions

Purchasing

  • Supervise the purchasing Department
  • Ensure that all purchasing best practice is adhered too
  • Sign off and sanction all spends within your authorised limit
  • Negotiate with suppliers
  • Market test to ensure that best value is achieved

Paper

  • Analyse paper spend on a weekly basis
  • Understand price trends
  • Negotiate with suppliers
  • Market test to ensure that best value is achieved
  • Measure internal quality and usage
  • Project value for feedback to merchants and buyer

ISO

  • Maintain and revise the Companies integrated systems
  • Review and map changing work methodology
  • Rewrite and review manuals and procedures
  • Supervise/Conduct internal audits
  • Supervise/Conduct external audits

Health and Safety

  • Take responsibility for Health and Safety and ensure that the plant is legally compliant
  • Ensure that Health and Safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Review and revise all safe systems of work
  • Review and revise all risk assessments
  • Liaise with external advisors to improve and maintain Health and Safety standards

Human Resources

  • Ensure that the plant is compliant with HR legislation
  • Supervise/Conduct all legally required one to one meetings
  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations where appropriate
  • Operate “Open Door” policy to all employees
  • Collect and disseminate information to all employees where appropriate

Cap Ex Projects

  • Research all aspects of the communication/print industry
  • Understand and advise on industry trends
  • Research and counsel on specific machines and projects
  • Produce cap ex justification data
  • Negotiate with suppliers ensuring best value

Machine Install Project Management

  • Liaise with machine manufacturer on positioning
  • Liaise with machine manufacturer on third party needs, (gas, electricity, air etc.)
  • Draw up budget plan for approval
  • Draw up and agree project plan to meet designated start-up date
  • Arrange training plan with manufacturer
  • Sign off machine with list of any outstanding issues
  • Follow up outstanding issues
