Senior 12 Hour Engineer
DS Smith Hinckley is currently looking for a Senior Engineer to join the team. We are looking for an experienced Engineer, who is able to lead the shift engineers and harness their abilities to minimise down time and improve reliability. As a member of the Engineering maintenance team you will safely carry out maintenance, process improvement and capital project activities in order to minimise equipment breakdown delay and maximise process capability / production output to achieve production performance targets (KPI’s).
As senior shift engineer it is expected that you assist in co-ordinating all engineering activity on site. You will be expected to be part of the daily engineering meetings. You will be a key communication means to all incoming & outgoing shifts as well as the day based team. You will be focused on driving improvements to machine reliability and efficiency. Coach and mentor your fellow engineering colleagues and be instrumental in creating learning aids for them. Responsibility for the management of the boiler house under BGO1. Be instrumental in driving continuous improvement activity and engagement with the operation teams and you also need to be a key user of the engineering SAP system to both manage workload and plan your shifts and own workload
You will also be responsible for:
To work safely at all times complying with and using (Safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statement…)
To be responsible for harnessing the skills of your shift engineers to work through the SAP system to minimise downtime improve reliability and efficiency.
To operate the SAP system to maximum efficiency.
Daily communication with all production departments will be an essential aspect of this role.
Excellent communication skills & general engineering administration, SSOW, PMIs and reports.
Responsibility for 5s and housekeeping standards in the department
To deputise for the Engineering Team leader, as required.
Organise manpower and workloads.
Take an active part in root cause problem solving meetings.
Enhance the skill levels of the engineering team members.
Take an active part in the delivery of capital and safety projects
A good general education.
HNC Mechatronics / Electrical
Recognised engineering qualifications.
17th Edition Regs
PLC fault finding / interrogation.
Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience in an engineering environment.
Experience of working in a highly computerised environment,
Effective at influencing people.
Experienced at fault finding on machines.
Experienced in PLC and inverter drive technology, be able to fault find on them.
Ability to write clear effective reports and procedures.
Experienced in training others.
