Assistant Production Manager

Experienced Print & Production Person required for busy in-house department.

Based in the busy Production Office of the University’s Creative & Print Service, this role involves managing and coordinating the varied print projects delivered throughout the University from our in-house facility and external suppliers. We produce a wide range of collateral, from business cards to large format building graphics.

Working with the Print & Production Manager this person will be responsible for the day to day delivery of our creative and print products across the University.

We’re looking for someone with sound experience of working with a range of print products and managing multiple projects and tasks. You will require a good understanding of print production processes including digital, litho, large format, signage, merchandise and direct mail.

You will be responsible for the line management and supervision of a Production Executive.

You will be:

  • Estimating the cost and timescales for internal production using Optimus Dash.
  • Logging jobs on our Filemaker MIS, and briefing jobs to the print team and design studio.
  • Obtaining estimates from external suppliers, benchmarking the costs and buying appropriately to ensure value for money.
  • Overseeing projects from brief to completion working closely with our designers and marketing, communication and engagement teams.
  • Raising purchase orders, GRNing, invoicing and helping produce departmental performance and financial reports.
  • Communicating effectively with our customers, delivering to tight schedules and thinking outside the box to find the right solution to any given challenge.
  • Preparing tenders and benchmarking prices for price list matrix. Strong mathematical skills required.
  • A team player prepared to support the workshop staff to deliver that urgent job on time.
  • Supporting the Production Executive with training and knowledge sharing.
  • Working with the Print & Production Manager to help deliver streamlined process and a web to print solution.

Strong IT skills are essential as you will be using Microsoft Office programs and bespoke print production software.
