Heavy Duty Support Engineer
The DS Smith site in Hinckley has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Duty Support Engineer to join them. The role will report into Head Of Engineering & Projects. As a member of the Engineering maintenance team you will safely carry out maintenance, process improvement and capital project activities in order to minimise equipment breakdown delay and maximise process capability / production output to achieve production performance targets (KPI’s).
As Heavy duty support engineer it is expected that you assist in coordinating all engineering activity across the heavy duty sites. You will be expected to be part of the daily engineering meetings. You will be a key communication means across the various sites with regard to the engineering aspects. You will be focused on driving improvements to machine reliability and efficiency. Assisting engineering colleagues and be instrumental in creating learning aids for them.
The role will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement activity and engagement with the operation teams, and take a proactive approach to housekeeping and 5s within the department and complete quarterly safety and 5s audits. You will manage the contractors whilst on site, ensuring that all supporting documentation is up to date. You also need to be a key user of the engineering SAP system.
What a Heavy Duty Support Engineer will be doing at DS Smith…
•Be accountable for carrying out duties and operating in a safe manner.
•Be the driving force in implementing PMI routines across the heavy duty sites and creating TPM systems for the operations team.
•Operate the SAP system to maximise equipment efficiency.
•Communicate daily with all production departments.
•General engineering administration, SSOW, PMIs and reports.
•Be responsible for 5s and housekeeping standards in the department
•Take an active part in root cause problem solving meetings.
•Take an active part in the delivery of capital and safety projects
What we would like our candidate to have…
•A good general education.
•HNC Mechatronics / Electrical as a minimum
•Recognised engineering qualifications.
•17th Edition Regs
•Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Word and Excel.
•Experience in an engineering environment.
•Experience of working in a highly computerised environment,
•Effective at influencing people.
•Experienced at fault finding on machines.
•Experienced in PLC and inverter drive technology, be able to fault find on them.
•Ability to write clear effective reports and procedures.
•Experienced in training others.
