Our client is a leading printed plastic manufacturer supplying plastic labels and cards, large format print, promotional cards to a variety of market sectors throughout the UK.

They are currently looking to recruit a Production Manager to join their team, responsible for the day to day operations of the production department.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all production targets are met
  • Work towards set 'Critical Success Factors' (CSFs) - to be agreed with the Managing Director - and is to assist in personal success and that of the teams and the company
  • The key CSFs will be broken down into manageable projects and shared with the leadership team and communicated to the wider team via Visual Management (VM) boards
  • Liaise with own staff and with other Departmental Team Leaders to ensure objectives are met and that progress updates are shared and understood
  • Demonstrate high levels of inter-departmental communication and cooperation
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training and development of team members, ensuring they have the correct skills and attitudes to deliver high levels of productivity and customer satisfaction
  • Work closely with Line Manager to ensure that you are working towards shared objectives and everyone is working towards their strategic goals
  • Ensure customer service is at the core of everything you do
  • Take ownership of CSFs, Professional Development Review (PDR) and 360 appraisal and work towards achieving all objectives
  • Develop leadership capabilities in line with your PDR enabling you to display solid leadership behaviours in all situations and manage effectively both up and down line
  • Lead production, developing an organisational structure that will deliver the necessary service
  • Delegate tasks to better utilise your skill pool and manage own workload
  • Develop and support production departmental VM boards as per the agreed format
  • Ensure the VM board is up to date and all processes are being followed
  • Represent the company, both internally and externally as a professional organisation
  • Ensure PDRs are conducted for all team members, ensuring engagement and team growth
  • Ensure that Skills Matrices are kept up to date and training records are signed off and competency checked
  • Ensure Skills Matrix is regularly updated to encompass new skills and best practise
  • Work closely with Senior Management to ensure business process and procedures are adhered to and developed as required
  • Work closely with all other departments to encourage a climate of cooperation, continuous improvement and professionalism throughout the business
  • Ensure that everyone in production acts in accordance with the company values.
  • Constantly strive to improve on production efficiencies, through lean and 6 sigma
  • Ensure Health, Safety & Environmental controls are in place to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure ISO 9001 is trained out, embedded and monitored
  • Ensure there is a multi skilled, flexible work force, equipped to manage the changing demands of the business
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are in place and all team members are sufficiently trained
  • Be proactive, eliminating the need for purely reactive operations throughout the year
