Overview

DS Smith Crumlin is now seeking a highly performing Production Team Leader to be responsible for the management, motivation and development of the Production Team. You will also work closely with all other internal teams to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the production functions.

We are looking for a dynamic, manufacturing professional with the tenacity and vision to deliver significant improvements through the utilisation of leading edge manufacturing tools and techniques.  Key to your success will be the ability to harness the support of the workforce, developing a culture which encourages development, high performance and team working.
 
What aspects are involved in this role?

You are likely to be an existing high performer who wants to stretch your operational development.  Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:-

• Developing strong clear leadership and vision within Production, evolving an operationally excellent environment which promotes continuous improvement, empowerment, motivation, participation and team working that allows employees to develop to their maximum potential
• Leading and playing an active part in driving lean/continuous improvement activities and introduce leading edge manufacturing tools and techniques
• Working closely with the leadership team to continually develop strategies to meet and further develop the overall operational, financial and commercial objectives of the business
• Ensuring the effective running of the Production functions on a day-to-day basis and the strategic development of the team and department to deliver the site’s  Business Plan in line with Divisional/Group initiatives to achieve service excellence
• Further driving the profitability of the business by maximising the utilisation of equipment and employees and ensure continuous improvement in the operating efficiencies
• Playing an active role within the sites Senior Management Team to ensure effective and constructive operational service input into the development of the site to meet the business plan
 
Some key areas of focus

• Ensuring daily production plans are fulfilled
• All downtime is kept to a minimum and investigated for trends
• Tooling supplied to machines at all times
• Manning/skill levels are maintained for production needs
• Working closely with Planning and despatch to full fill daily requirements
• Smooth running of the centre of the factory by organising work flow to  secondary machines
• Staff development and identifying own key areas of development

•Proven track record in improving productivity within previous roles, continuous improvement manufacturing culture.
• Experience of working within a fast turnaround, high volume, customer focused, manufacturing environment;

• Ability to make decisions in a time pressured environment with a proven track record of performing at a high level in a fast paced customer service environment
• Experience of leading a team/people management
