The post holder will be the production manager of Leeds City Council’s flagship digital print, mail and signs production facility. The role carries responsibility for the management of the council’s in-house print, fulfilment and mailing operations, as well as overseeing the signage and ID badge manufacturing services.

The unit operates as a traded service, supporting the requirements of the local authority and other public service providers within the greater Leeds area. It has a current turnover of over £2 million and encompasses all aspects of print production, print finishing and mail fulfilment, along with large format digital print, signage design and manufacture. The production equipment incorporates high volume mono and colour digital printers, large format print, mailing insertion lines and supportive print finishing kit. Traffic sign production is to BSEN 12899, with AutoCAD and SignLab being the main software applications in use.

The successful candidate should have production and resource management experience within time critical environments. In addition, they should have an appreciation of account management within print service provision and an understanding of job costing parameters. It is also expected that the applicant should be familiar with Tharstern MIS, or an industry equivalent.

The successful candidate should have experience of job scheduling, managing a production team and a strong understanding of mailing service solutions. Responsible for a team of 15+ staff, the candidate should be supported by good verbal and written communication skills. They should be conversant with specialist IT related products and fully understand the requirements of a print, document and signs production environment.
