Hours: Monday to Friday - 8:00am to 5:00pm

Our client is a market leading corrugated packaging company, specialising in bespoke corrugated packaging solutions with various sites across the UK.

They are currently looking to recruit an Operations Manager to cover 2 production sites. The successful candidate will be managing approximately 40 Production Staff and will be reporting to the Managing Director.

The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of Health & Safety and have the ability to plan, implement and monitor continued Health & Safety Improvements.

Experience of corrugated packaging would be advantageous but my client will also consider candidates from other packaging backgrounds.

Responsibilities / Requirements:
  • A key aspect of this new position will be to challenge the status quo and identify new and improved ways of moving the operations of the business forward, maintaining a continuous improvements philosophy and attitude
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of our production procedures and have the ability to analyse these figures and implement planned production improvements and cost reductions
  • Develop and promote continuous improvements to Health and Safety at all times
  • Target setting and monitoring across all key areas of responsibility
  • Ensure all skills are utilised fully to meet all deliveries and achieve maximum output levels
  • Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the asset maintenance scheme
  • Develop skill levels across all staff, identifying training needs as required
  • Ensure everyone is working within the company procedures and manage anyone who is not
  • Have a clear understanding of the Discipline and Grievance Procedures, and use as required
  • Staff Performance and Machine Maintenance
  • To lead all staff in achieving goals and objectives, ensure all customer requirements are met including (but not exclusively) on time and in full (OTIF)
  • Control and reduce waste on a day to day basis
  • Control and reduce downtime on a day to day basis
  • Have a good understanding and working knowledge of the company's production procedures and have the ability to analyse these figures and implement planned production improvements and cost reductions
  • Monitor and maintain the highest standard of housekeeping in all area of the Factory and yards
  • In addition the Operations Manager will need to coordinate with their transport provider seeking improved vehicle utilisation and cost reductions across the 2 Sites
  • Quality and Presentation

KPI (Key Performance Indicators):
  • Number of Health and Safety incidents
  • External Health and Safety audit score
  • Number and value of internal and external customer complaints
  • Machine output levels vs target levels
  • Management and implementation of the asset maintenance scheme
  • Control of spending, and awareness of overspends
  • Staff skill level development
  • Internal waste improvement
  • General management of staff at both production sites
