About the job

Job Purpose:

Take full responsibility for owning the control and mitigation of all Production risks within Coating & Converting, ensuring robust controls are in place to mitigate risk to the department and wider business, this including owning all forward planning pre-production.

Question the status quo and be a strong communicator.  You will be responsible for managing and leading continuous improvement projects within and across the Coating & Converting processes, as well as mentoring and coaching others. Must be comfortable working with all levels within the organisation. 

Apply Lean Manufacturing in the implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives. Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater valve; implements such tools as: 6S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen. Must also train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams, focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements.

Act as Technical lead in the introduction of new technology.

Execute a formal program that focuses on reducing process and product variation.

Implement such tools as: FMEA, SPC, Process Capability, Pareto analysis and RCA.

Train, coach and motivate personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques. 

Drive the standardisation of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices.

Assist in setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets.

Qualifications and Experience required

  • Will be degree qualified or similar or have equal industry experience in an engineering or similar discipline 
  • Will have previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment 
  • Will have good knowledge in using LEAN techniques such as 5S/Kaizen/Ishikawa 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Strong problem solving 

Skills

  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing
  • Excellent team leadership and facilitation skills
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Lean six sigma desirable
  • Strong problem-solving skills, results driven
  • Be able to work well alone as well as part of a team
  • Innovative, creative and good leadership qualities
