Reporting into the Production Director, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Finishing Manager to join this ever expanding print company.

Purpose of Job: To support the goals of the Production Department and help to achieve the smooth running of the Finishing Department, to ensure that budgets and commercial targets are met, and to help to ensure the smooth running of the Production Department.

 

To help to achieve the Clients SLAs, to meet their planned schedules, customer specifications and expectations.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. To gain a full knowledge of the range of services provided in the Litho & Digital Finishing Department.
  2. To be able to understand the company’s Management Information Systems in regards to estimating, job bags, delivery systems etc.
  3. To have a full working knowledge and understanding of the various finishing processes,the equipment within the Finishing Department and the products the equipment is capable of producing.
  4. To be fully conversant with a range of folding, guillotine, stitching, perfect binding, lamination, one piece mailing equipment and their capabilities.
  5. To manage the Finishing Department Team with full responsibility for monitoring time and attendance, holiday schedules, recruitment, and discipline where appropriate. 
  6. To liaise with the Production Management Team and the Account Management Team to pro-actively ensure that all jobs are running accurately, efficiently, on time and to specification, to maintain a department job schedule and communicate the relevant information to the Production Management Team.
  7. Ensure all production information details and changes are being input and captured onto the Visual Production Schedule and that they are correct and accurate.
  8. To receive and chase all Finishing production job bags, to check and distribute the job bags to the Finishing Department Shift Leaders.
  9. To lead daily Finishing productions meetings with Shift Leaders and Finishing Staff.
  10. Achieve team and individual targets as set by the Production Department Management.
  11. Prepare weekly reports for analysis as required by the senior management team.
  12. Undertake support tasks as required by the senior management team.
  13. Complete projects as and when requested by the Production Director.
  14. Strong and effective communication at all levels of the business.
  15. Good time keeping and attendance.
  16. Maintain a tidy and clean work area ensuring that the office and desks are kept in a clean and orderly manner.
  17. Understand and adhere to the company policies and procedures with particular emphasis on quality and health and safety.

     18. To be willing and able to work overtime at relatively short notice and to cover holidays and sickness as and when required.

 

Internal Relationships: All staff and Departments as required but in particular the Client Services Team and the Production Department Heads on site.

 

External Relationships: Suppliers, Clients as and when required.

 

Background / Experience: A successful 2 years proven record of accomplishment gained within a Print & Mailing environment at a similar level.

  9. Able to maintain good disciplines and standards, initiative, and drive
  10. Understanding of commercial issues surrounding jobs
  11. Able to ensure that all documentation is complete and accurate
