Starting Salary: Between £15-£17PH

Hours of Work: 36 Hours working week on a Continental Shift Pattern

Our Client specialises in printed folding cartons, providing bespoke solutions to a range of food markets throughout the UK. They are looking to recruit a Gluing Operator to join the team. You will be reporting to Senior Gluing Operator/Finishing Supervisor.

You will be responsible for operating the gluing machines ensuring that all performance and quality targets need to be achieved. This role is required to optimise production output for the finishing department through effective organisation co-ordination and resource management. A key element of this role is striving for continual improvements in machine productivity and efficiency, waste reduction, product quality and customer service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To drive and achieve targets in key performance in machine productivity and efficiency, waste, quality, customer service levels and Health & Safety
  • Always promote a safety aware environment and continually suggest ways to reduce the possibilities of accidents at work.
  • To direct the staff on your machine/machines to carry out the duties that ensure the achievement of targets
  • Manage workload to the plan to ensure 100% OTIF and quality
  • Ensure housekeeping is of the highest standard and that staff on your machine/machines adhere to the site hygiene and H&S rules
  • To ensure effective inter-departmental communication
  • To continually check to ensure a quality product is produced and to maintain customer relationships
  • Manage and control activities when on shift around your machine/machines
  • Ensure you operate to clear Standard Operating Procedures that are correctly trained out
  • Identify development needs of your staff
  • Report any concerns and issues to your line manager
  • Create and develop a team-working environment
  • Optimise equipment and resource usage for effective and efficient output
  • Be proactive in developing solutions to operational issues
  • Ensure effective communication within and from all areas of production to achieve common business aims
  • Ensure compliance with all existing systems, standards and procedures within all areas to satisfy both company and customer requirements
  • Identify opportunities for improving systems of work, and successfully implement
  • Control waste effectively & record correctly
  • Support the introduction of new systems and procedures
  • Drive productivity improvement & standardisation
  • Provide training and instil a Lean culture throughout the department

Performance Indicators:

  • Achieve departmental KPI's
  • Constantly strive to reduce downtime to agreed levels
  • Meet and maintain customer requirements in terms of quality and output
  • Compliance with the company's quality standards
  • Adherence to the company's health safety & environment standards (HASAWA Act)
  • Maintain a good overall condition of work area through routine maintenance
  • Accurate & efficient control of components including filing and good housekeeping practice
