GROUP OPERATIONS MANAGER

SOUTH EAST

Starting Salary of up to £75K + annual bonus up to £20K depending on company profitability + 25 days holiday + Group Life Insurance Scheme + Personal Pension + Car / Car Allowance

Our client is one of the UK's leading independent sheet plants and specialises in the design and manufacturer of Corrugated Packaging, the business has three sites and an turnover of £18million +

The position will cover all three sites primarily based at the site in the Buckinghamshire area (please contact us for further information on the three locations)

This role will give you the overall responsibility for the operations function within the business which requires weekly involvement at all three sites. Their aim is to develop this role, so the successful candidate can progress to director level within the business and ultimately become a shareholder.

As planning of the plant is dealt with by a separate manager this is a straight forward role purely focussing on production / output

Our client is happy to consider candidates from any manufacturing background and also candidates who are looking to take a step up into a more senior role, which also comes with the potential of ownership in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for 5 direct reports and approx. 80 staff in total
  • Management of the Accreditation and Health & Safety Manager, hence overall responsibility for health and safety matters, plus our BRC and FSC accreditations
  • Delivering on going manufacturing productivity improvements
  • Control and, as necessary, the enhancement of product quality
  • Adherence to the daily manufacturing plan, to ensure deliveries are on time and in full
  • Management of the three operations managers
  • Management of the engineering team (three engineers), including the preventative maintenance and machinery development programmes

Key Skills:

  • A strong operations background with experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of methodologies to deliver continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of developing teams in an operations environment to the extent that they become self-sufficient and not reliant on your daily leadership
  • An ability to engage with a wide variety of people both internally and externally to the business
  • Has the ability to deliver successfully large capital investment projects
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and BRC Direct Food Standards would be advantageous
  • A strong belief in outstanding customer service and a desire to always ensure the customer receives excellent service
