INJECTION MOULD TECHNICAL SPECIALIST - AUTOMATION ROBOTICS

WEST YORKSHIRE

Salary £45,000 - £49,000 depending on skills and experience.

Hours of work Monday to Friday (Days) with overtime in the event of a major breakdown.

Our client is a leading manufacturer of plastics for FMCG markets. They are looking to recruit a Technical Specialist to join their Engineering team. Must be able to project manage new lines coming into the site, support maintenance on breakdowns / work on continuous improvements and have PLC experience whilst working to strict KPI's.

Reporting to the Technical Manger the role is of a senior position within the business.
Working primarily with injection moulded components, you will be lead technical point for new projects / automation managing qualification and installation as well as daily tasks which include KPI's, Implementation / management of PPM / TPM schedule, Breakdowns and Continuous Improvement.

The role is one of an autonomous nature with key relationships across OEM,
Production Team and Maintenance Teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Technical Specialist has daily interactions with Production Team, including QA, Maintenance, Toolroom, Supply Chain and Customer Services, both internally and externally.
  • The role has direct responsibility of Key lines/Cells/Projects.
  • Responsible for 6 rotary assembly lines, 2 fully automated priority lines and 1 Extraction / closing cell.
  • To ensure efficient operation of machinery.
  • To lead and coordinate the technical aspects of production machinery and procedures.
  • Participate / Lead in Continuous Improvement Projects.
  • Root cause analysis using Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Managing and coordinating purchase requisitions, project documentation (e.g., cycle time trials, SAT's, FAT's) and sampling data review process.
  • Explore, evaluate, and initiate project engineering process across multiple technical disciplines internally and externally with other company sites.
  • Provide support to Manufacturing, Maintenance, QA, Customer Services, Supply Chain, and the Tool Room, with technical assistance.
  • Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems, resolving all problems (robots, automation + assembly).
  • Create SOP's.
  • Train others on job duties.

Relevant Experience:

  • Injection moulding knowledge / experience required.
  • Strong Engineering aptitude with Industrial/Engineering biased training / qualifications or Polymer Processing Technology training.
  • Vision systems.
  • Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing and Tools.
  • Ability to lead Root cause analysis working with suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to work alone with minimal direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • IT Proficient.
  • Experience in Project management.
  • PLC Programming: Desirable.
  • Lean manufacturing: Desirable.
