MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN / ENGINEER

WEST MIDLANDS

Salary £Open (Depending on Experience) + 20 days after 2 years, this increases by 1 day per year to a max of 25 days + Bank Holidays + Workplace Pension Scheme + Benefits that accrue with service to include paid sick leave and medical cash plans

Hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 9:00am to 4:00pm Fridays

Our client is a well-respected Sheet Plant that specialise in the food, beverage and industrial markets. They sell the complete range of corrugated products from standard 0201's to specialist die cuts. Our client also has in-house Design facilities and an excellent reputation in the industry.

They are currently looking for Maintenance Engineer / Technician to join their team. You will be ensuring that machinery and plant are maintained so that production downtime is reduced, and safety standards are upheld. You are responsible for setting and completing maintenance work to an efficient maintenance schedule as well as attending to breakdowns, diagnosing problems and attending to improvements or adaptations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Attends to breakdowns or defects with a view of getting production up and running as quickly as possible
  • Implement a maintenance schedule and carry out preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery on time and efficiently, along with maintaining the buildings and grounds. This may include decorating, replacing lighting, installing doors as well as general repairs
  • Record all maintenance that has been carried out including planned maintenance, to demonstrate compliance
  • Under the Direction of the Production Manager, modify equipment and machinery to improve efficiency, ensure health and safety compliance or to prevent breakdowns and assist with new installs
  • Ensures that maintenance, repairs or modification, work is carried out in a safe manner, and any vehicle, equipment or tools are used as per the manufacturer's handbook / guidelines
  • Source/order the necessary parts or components for spares or repairs under the direction of the Production Manager
  • PAT Testing on all portable appliances as per the recommended schedule (subject to qualification)
  • Ensures compliance with health & safety regulations and performs inspections for safety and security issues including but not limited to the weekly Fire Alarm testing, monthly Emergency Lighting testing or any other inspections or tests
  • Liaises with external contractors or manufacturers where necessary, calling in specialist help if required
  • To ensure that excellent levels of communication are kept with the Production Manager regarding any foreseen concerns and to ensure that all work is completed efficiently, within budget and to scope
