PRE-PRESS OPERATOR - PRINT

Up to £14 per hour (Depending on Experience) + Pension + Other Benefits TBD

Hours: Open to Flexibility, 22 - 30 hours per week over 3 or 4 days

Our client is looking for a person to join our pre-press department within their printing and mailing company.

The company is an independently owned litho and digital printing company based in the West Midlands. The company designs, prints and mails such items as leaflets, brochures, newsletters and packaging for a wide variety of industries across the UK.

As a Pre-press Mac Operator at the company, you will utilise all aspects of their Pre-press systems for both their litho and digital presses which include Equios Workflow, Fiery workflow, Tharsterns IDC (MIS), Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. You will pre-flight, Colour Manage and Impose files ready for their next process using Equios/Xerox Fiery.

Following on from the workflow you will produce various proof types, hard copy, digital and Finishing mock-ups using our Epson printer. You will manage the approval process directly with client, checking the imposition to the job sheet on our MIS and producing the plate using CTP (computer to plate).

Responsibilities / Requirements:

• Pre-flight customer supplied files prior to importing them into Equios workflow.
• Troubleshooting issues and correcting files using Adobe and liaising with press operators, the client and their account management team.
• Carrying out authors corrections to customer supplied files.
• Using Equios workflow software, create impositions with preflighted files in readiness for Proofing/Plating.
• Maintaining the CTP machine.
• Ensure that you liaise with the Account Management team about job bag discrepancies and queries about artwork.
• Follow internal checking procedures for all proofs and plates required for next process.

Skills:

• Proficient in using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator for iMac.
• Experience of a pre-press background would be ideal however a genuine interest in print is essential.
• Flexible and pro-active approach with the ability to work well within a team and to tight deadlines.
• Have a high level of attention to detail.
• Have a good understanding of impositions.
