A truly exciting opportunity has arisen for a Papermaking Production Manager to join a leading Global Operation in the field of Food / Drink Grade Paper Manufacturing.

Operational strengths derive from their promotion of an Open and Collaborative Culture where all ideas are welcomed. The role will predominantly focus on 'Shop Floor' educational development - increasing the paper making expertise below that of Production Manager level. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the whole process down the line within this 24/7 operation; from stock prep to finishing. Our client therefore requires a candidate with solid papermaking experience, so are willing to extend their search beyond the UK for those with not only the right experience, but also approach and skills. 

Globally based candidates can be considered with the provision of Sponsorship - complete fluency in spoken and written English is essential. If relocation is required, a support package can be offered.

Position Reports to: Operations Manager.

Direct Reports: Shift Managers & Assistant Shift Managers.

Indirect reports: Total: 45-50; within Stock Prep, Paper Machine and Finishing Depts.

Crews are split over 5 shifts with a Supervisor in each.

Site Output: c.20,000mt per annum.

The Main Objectives of the role:

  • Lead employee safety and product safety throughout the line area and maximise the productivity from the Paper machine line - Stock Preparation, Paper Machine and Finishing equipment Dept.
  • Achieve paper machine productivity to daily targets (both gross tonnes and net tonnes) while ensuring good paper quality with low fault levels, attaining specified production plan for the line and meeting customer delivery requirements
  • Work closely with Technical & Engineering support to achieve the above aims. 
  • Accountable for overall line performance as measured by budget and KPIs

Skills Required:

  1. Thorough knowledge (both theoretical and practical) of paper production
  2. Thorough knowledge of standard quality, hygiene and safety systems.
  3. Knowledge of SPC techniques, RCAs and SOPs
