PRODUCTION MANAGER - SIGNS

Our client began trading in the late 1990's and manufacture a variety of signage including internal and external signs, illuminated signs, wall signs, fascia signs, banners, vehicle graphics, and built up letters. They offer a full service to the customer from site survey to design of the sign and then manufacture and installation.

Targets

  • Output Target - measured as the value of invoiced production
  • Delivery time - measured as the days between the order date and the invoice date
  • Quality - measure as the number of Internal Rejects and Customer Snags

Responsibilities

  • To review each customer order
  • To prepare a plan for each order - for its design, its manufacture and its installation
  • To prepare a Production Plan for the production team
  • To ensure that staff know, each day, what is expected from them and to motivate them to complete their to-do-list satisfactorily
  • To check that we have the materials in stock to fulfil the customer order and to arrange the purchase order of any additional materials
  • To check that all signs comply with the customer's requirements and to ensure that all signs meet our quality control standards
  • To ensure that all production equipment and installation vehicles are in proper repair and in good order
  • To liaise with sales people to ensure that we can land the orders they need from their customers
  • To liaise with suppliers to ensure that we get a good delivery service at a competitive price
  • To train senior staff to become supervisors and to develop the skills of all production staff so as to create as flexible a team as possible
  • To be innovative in the evolution of our systems so as to ensure that production meets the needs of a growing and diverse business

REPORTING

  • The job reports to the Managing Director of the company

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of detailed planning
  • Experience of working to tough deadlines
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing / production environment
  • The management and motivation of a small team
  • Knowledge of IT to enable innovative systems development
  • Problem solving skills - to take on the challenges some of our customers present
  • Communication skills for dealing with suppliers and sales people alike
  • Experience of working with change
