QUALITY MANAGER - BRC/ FOOD PACKAGING

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

£40-45K + Company Pension + Benefits Package

Hours: 40 per week / Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

Our client is a custom designer and manufacturer of packaging for a prestigious blue chip customer base. They are appointing a Quality Manager to be responsible for driving UK QA strategy and of the management of the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance System. Ensuring that quality is achieved across all areas of the organisation: product development, materials and product testing, regulatory and quality standards compliance, quality systems performance, supplier monitoring, customer support and documentation.

This will involve defining and implementing the QA strategies for each area, promoting continuous improvement through the adaptation of Lean 6 Sigma methodologies, monitoring compliance within Quality, Hygiene and safety systems, identifying deficiencies, and minimising their potential impact upon the organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage the Quality technical team
  • Develop a clear strategy based on DMAIC methodology to minimise Customer complaints
  • Drive the Quality culture away from QC towards QA underpinned by process capability
  • Implement a robust methodology to ensure that internal specifications and procedures are fully aligned with Customer requirements using VOC and CTQ
  • Ensure new products and processes have been approved via the NPD process and that they can be replicated consistently
  • Develop mutually beneficial relationships with Customers and Suppliers
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions for delivery
  • Maintain management systems to ensure continued site certification against all relevant standards
  • Manage the testing of materials and products to meet both business and legislative requirements
  • Ensure UK compliance against all relevant Food Contact legislation, including maintenance of documentation and audits
  • Use Lean principles to further continuous improvement, improve process performance and reduce the 8 wastes
  • Auditing both Business Operations and Suppliers to ensure continuing compliance with systems and applicable legislation
  • Identify and deliver relevant quality-related training

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 10 years QA experience, including 5 years in Line Manager capacity
  • Previous experience in a Quality management/ compliance role within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience/knowledge of food contact materials & articles legislation
  • Degree, or equivalent, in Quality, Scientific or manufacturing related subject
  • Solid experience defining and implementing strategic QA plans across all areas of the business
  • Experience of training and coaching people
  • Understanding of Lean Sigma principles and change management experience (ideally Black Belt)
  • Established IT skills i.e. Windows, Excel, Word, Power Point, Access
  • Driving Licence required, with some flexibility to travel to other sites occasionally
