Salary £50,000 - £57,000 annual salary + Annual Target Bonus 10% + BUPA

Our Client is the global leader in the design and manufacture of packaging for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, health care, personal care, household, and industrial applications. Known for its technical innovation, quality products and exceptional customer service with a global footprint that includes operations in the United States, Canada, China, France, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom and is supported by a global sales network. The company is well-positioned for continued growth and profitability this year and beyond.

They currently require a Sales Manager to be responsible for achieving annual sales targets as agreed with the Sales Director as well as building and maintaining a pipeline of opportunities to ensure future growth. Additionally, the Sales Manager will have specific goals and responsibilities within various company projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales territory management responsibility, working to meet sales targets as agreed with the Sales Director. To include responsibility for selected European accounts and international markets as agreed with Sales Director. Prime focus will be to gain new and to develop existing small to medium-sized customers in several countries in EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India & Africa) region.
  • Commercial project support: For several key projects, each with an important sales growth component, where the successful candidate will work closely with the Sales Director and other sales and cross-functional colleagues to achieve and exceed the company's goals for these projects.
  • Sales Opportunity & Pipeline Management - identifying key growth opportunities within the sales territory, leading these sales projects in conjunction with other company resource as required, leading to the acquisition of successful and profitable long term repeat customers.
  • Managing relevant customer records and opportunity pipeline through the company's CRM system - "Salesforce."
  • To work in conjunction with the Sales Director and other territory Managers to promote/create pull-through from key end-user groups, typically large multinational FMCG companies.
  • To promote the development of sustainable packaging solutions.
  • Effective communication and management of customer requirements to/with sales, technical and operations colleagues.
  • Monitoring customer & competitor trends, feedback to colleagues.
  • Providing & maintaining a forecast of future business with customers under the Sales Manager's responsibility.
  • Promoting a coordinated approach with the Sales team and providing cover for other team members in their absence.
  • Other activities as are consistent with the role of sales manager within a fast-moving international supplier to the packaging industry.
  • Occasional travel will be required, primarily to European destinations, although this role is primarily based at the office location.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience in a relevant B2B packaging market - ideally technical packaging consumables: closure, container, or flexible/laminate structures.
  • Will be an experienced sales manager preferably with some with international experience, able to demonstrate sales success in a similar B2B field with a strong technical component.
  • Fluency in English and ideally one other relevant language.
  • Will be educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Organised individual able to work as part of a small international team.
  • Good numeracy, analytical and computer skills, including MS Excel and a modern CRM system (Salesforce or similar.)
