Reports to: Operations Director
Double day shift (6am-1pm / 1pm-8pm), rotating weekly

Our Client is a wide web packaging printer and converter, providing innovative solutions to their blue chip client base primarily in the food sector. They are currently recruiting for a Shift Manager to lead and act as the responsible person on shift to ensure work is produced safely and efficiently whilst maintaining quality standards. To work closely with the Senior Management team to ensure the business strategy is achieved.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and assist Operators in adhering to production requirements.
  • To work closely with the planning department to ensure efficiencies are met.
  • To ensure stock items are ordered and maintained accordingly for all production consumables.
  • To ensure the working environment is safe and all relevant safety, quality and hygiene documentation is up to date.
  • To support the compliance to BRC, ISO9001-2015 and ISO14001-2015.
  • To lead and support the DMS (Daily Management System) and to report on KPI's to Management.
  • To ensure all staff are fully trained competent and are signed off using documented training aids.
  • Create training documentation where necessary to support SQD (Safety, quality, and delivery).
  • To drive and deliver a multi skilled training program to ensure holiday, sickness and breaks are covered.
  • Take ownership of key projects which align to the business strategy e.g., capacity/efficiency improvements.
  • Act as first point of contact for department outside of office hours.
  • To approve and manage holiday requests to ensure the business is fully protected.
  • Embrace problem solving tools and techniques to ensure correct root cause analysis is completed where necessary.
  • Participate in and embrace all forms of training and development.
  • To cover other areas of the business, where necessary to support safety, quality, and delivery.

Skills and knowledge:

  • Demonstrable understanding of flexible packaging manufacturing processes e.g., flexographic print, lamination, and slitting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literate with a bias to MS Excel / Word.
  • Dynamic and self-motivated.
  • Identify and recommend new ways of working which benefit the company.
  • Establish key working relationships with all areas of the business.
  • Ensure Management requests are actioned in the agreed timeframes.
