SHIFT SUPERVISOR - DIE CUT EXPERIENCE

Salary: Circa £38K
Shift Pattern: Double days - Monday to Friday: 6am-2pm - 2pm to 10pm
Our client is a leading corrugated manufacturer, supplying the full range of Corrugated Packaging, HQPP and Litholam in to a variety of market sectors.
Our client is looking to recruit a Shift Supervisor to oversee the production operation and drive KPIs through the Team Leaders. To orgainse production activities to obtain the most effective balance between production requirements, cost and the Health and Safety of all staff on site. You will actively assist the Team Leaders in fine tuning the performance of machine groups in order to maximise production. Our client is looking for someone with Bobst or Asahi diecut experience
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
- To ensure that all SSOW are understood by staff in their respective areas and that they are adhered to
- Maintain accurate records on accident reporting and near misses ensuring proper channels of communication are utilised
- Assist in the audit process
- Assist the management team with the zero-tolerance approach on health & safety
- Report any unsafe conditions or breaches of regulations to the operations team
- Control the permit to work system including all shop floor visitors/tradesmen
- Active participation in the review process of all associated SSOW and completion of any Risk Assessments
- Champion health & safety project work utilising staff through their respective Team Leaders
- Support the management team to bring a step change in the perception and understanding of Health & Safety issues in their designated area
- Quality
- Take an active approach in all quality related documentation including spot checking to ensure compliance from staff
- Ensure rejects are identified and located in the appropriate area and dealt with in line with company procedure, and communicated to the Production Manager
- Actively look for opportunities to improve quality for our customers and the site
- Review quality systems effectiveness and participate in quality forums and initiatives
- Ensure compliance with FSC standards and procedures
Production
- Ensure accurate records are maintained throughout production runs
- Look to improve on all KPI's with effective utilisation of labour and resources
- Minimise downtime by forward planning to ensure all materials are available well in advance
- Liaise with planning to affect the most cost-effective production plan
- Challenge the culture in respect of run speed through the Team Leaders, utilising best practices
- Restrict departmental costs and overheads wherever possible, closely monitoring and scrutinising any unnecessary costs including overtime
- Utilise allocated labour to the best effect in order to achieve identified priorities
- Work with the management team on process/continuous improvement projects
- Assisting the management team by identifying training needs, building strong & multi skilled teams and playing a key part in the operator/Team Leader appraisal system
Leadership
- Make effective use of the Team Leader position to drive crews to greater performance both in quality and output
- Continually offer support and development opportunities to your team, taking into account their specific needs and the needs of the business
- Deal effectively with disciplinary issues, following laid down procedures and maintaining accurate records
- Communicate effectively all KPI's with weekly updates to crews
- Lead by example in all areas of responsibility
- Treat all team members with respect
